What is Gold-filled? Will it tarnish?

Gold-filled jewelry is the highest quality and value, just under solid gold. Unlike gold-plated jewelry, gold-filled pieces have layers of gold - creating a more valuable and treasured.

Gold-filled items are created using a gold alloy. This is a blend of gold and elements that gives the structure and durability to your pieces. Gold alone is a very soft material and most fine jewelry utilizes alloys for strengthening purposes.  Choosing gold-filled is the perfect alternative to a solid gold. Gold-filled provides the luxurious look and feel of gold at an affordable price.

100% gold will not tarnish. Gold-filled jewelry is tarnish resistant, meaning it’s layers of gold prevent it from immediate color change and various reactions, however the gold alloy in the jewelry has the ability to turn over time.

Gold-filled jewelry must not be exposed to harsh chemicals and ingredients as they may react to the metals. These include but are not limited to perfumes, lotions, nail polish remover, sunscreens, chlorine, cleaning products. Please allow for all beauty products to dry before wearing your jewelry. Like anything, the better you care for it, the better it will look and last. We do not offer exchanges for tarnished pieces, as the west of the jewelry is a reflection of its care versus the original product. With that said, if you experience complete tarnishing within 30 days of your purchase please email help@ericawoolston.com

What is Sterling Silver? Will it tarnish?

Similarly to gold-filled, Sterling Silver jewelry is combined with an alloy metal(s). Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver with alloy making up the rest to provide the structure necessary for jewelry design. 100% silver will not tarnish. Sterling Silver jewelry is susceptible to tarnishing over time, as the alloy metals oxidize. Proper care will delay the formation of tarnish.

Sterling Silver jewelry must not be exposed to harsh chemicals and ingredients as they may react to the metals. These include but are not limited to perfumes, lotions, nail polish remover, sunscreen, chlorine, hair care products, cleaning products. Please allow for all beauty products to dry before wearing your jewelry. Periodically cleaning Sterling Silver with a polish cloth will help return its original shine. When not wearing your jewelry, we recommend storing it in an airtight container. Like anything, the better you care for it, the better it will look and last. We do not offer exchanges for tarnished pieces, as the condition of the jewelry is a reflection of its care versus the original product. With that said, if you experience complete tarnishing within 30 days of your purchase please email help@ericawoolston.com

Fine Jewelry Care

From their meaningful symbolism to their brilliant shine, our fine jewelry pieces are intended for everyday wear. However, depending on lifestyle choices precautions should be taken to ensure your pieces are as vibrant and pristine as the moment you first put them on. Our fine jewelry pieces are delicitally designed to be staples for both individual and layered looks. We recommend removing these pieces during active hobbies such as swimming, contact sports, working out, etc. Cleaning recommendations include gently rinsing under warm water with mild dish soap before thoroughly patting dry with a soft polishing cloth and storing.
